About the Author

Dr. Charles Edward Haas

Ever since his mother taught him how to read at the age of three, Charles has been fascinated by books. His love for the written word can be clearly seen in his voracious reading habits, as he frequently finishes a book within one or two days (several hundred books each year). He also has a deep love of learning and has earned six post-secondary degrees and over 3 dozen certifications in a variety of fields, including education, business, psychology, communication, mathematics, psychometry, and archery.

Although he has tried his hand at a number of diverse careers, including college administrator, teacher, archery director, psychometrist, and youth counselor, Charles has always dreamed of becoming a writer and bringing others the same pleasure he gets when cracking open a new book.

In 2007, Charles was asked by close friend Matthew Mortimer to help him create a book of student essays. Whose History Is It Anyway? was released in 2008, followed by We Cannot Escape History (2009), Phoenix Flies Through History (2010), Through the Flames of Time (2011), Journey Through the Generations (2012), Through the Eyes of Another (2013), and Rewind (2014). A compilation book, Remembering 9/11, was created to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

Charles wrote his first book to provide some solace during a difficult time in his life. His second book, the Book of Ley, a collection of original musings, evolved partially out of the first book. Brain Warmers: A Workbook to Help You Think Outside the Box & Improve Your Creativity is his third book and the first in the Brain Warmers series. The second Brain Warmers book (filled with elementary algebra practice problems) was released in the summer of 2016.

During the pandemic, Charles started doodling and drawing on his daughters' lunch bags. His images became more elaborate, and he was encouraged to put them in a book, which became Lunch Bag Art: November 2020 - August 2021. A second year of drawings became Lunch Bag Art 2: September 2021 - August 2022, and a third book in the series will likely be released in fall 2023.
